Tasks keep your follow-ups organized — calls, meetings, and to-dos, each tied to the right contact, company, or deal, shown on your calendar, and (optionally) driving a guided checklist that moves work forward.
Open Tasks
Click Tasks in the left sidebar. Filter the list with the tabs at the top — All, Past, Today, Future, and Date range — and use the Search tasks box, the Filters button, or the sort menu (for example, Oldest first). A Calendar (Month / Week / Day / List) shows your tasks by date.
Create a task
- Click the + next to the “Tasks” title (or use Create Task on a contact record).
- Enter a Title (required) and add one or more Associated Contacts — SalesNexus suggests related records as you type.
- Click More options to also link an Associated Company and/or Associated Opportunity, and to set a color or alert.
- Choose a Task Type. The Details field can be pre-filled from the task type, with Merge Tags resolved to the selected contact/company/deal.
- Set Assigned To, Notes, Date/Start/End, Priority, and an Alert reminder as needed.
- Click Save Task.
Task types & subtasks (admin setup)
Administrators manage task types under Settings › Task Types. There are three built-in System types — To-do, Call, and Meeting — and you can add your own with + New Type. For each type you can configure:
- Default Subtasks — an ordered checklist that runs when a task of this type is completed. Add steps with + Add subtask and pick a step type: Do action, Fill field, Record disposition, Log note, Upload document, Move stage, Spawn task, Send email, or Escalate task. Each step has a label, optional help text, and a required toggle. You can Apply a subtask template from the account-wide library, or Save current subtasks as template so any type can reuse them.
- Dispositions — the list of outcomes a user can record for that task type (falls back to a default list if none is set).
Completing a task & saving a follow-up
Open a task and click the green Mark as Complete button in the Task Details panel. (Use the caret beside it for Complete & Stay, which completes the task without jumping to the next one.)
A Mark task as completed window opens showing the task Title, a Completed Date, and a Notes box. Choose one of:
- Save — mark the task complete.
- Save and Follow Up — complete this task and immediately create a linked follow-up task, so the next step is never lost.
If the task’s type has subtasks configured, you also work through those guided steps to finish — for example record a disposition (a required step you must answer), log a note, fill a field, move the deal to the next stage, or send an email. Completing a task can also fire a pipeline Task-Complete automation when your goal/pipeline is set up for it.
Managing tasks on the Calendar
Click Calendar in the left sidebar (or use the Calendar panel on the Tasks page). Switch between Month, Week, Day, and List views, and toggle scope between My calendar and Team. Tasks appear as color-coded events (using their task-type color) with a checkmark to mark them complete. Use Filters to narrow what’s shown, and Quick add to create a task in plain English — for example, “Call Acme tomorrow 2pm.”
AI Task Suggestions
The AI Task Suggestions panel uses Nexi to recommend timely next steps based on the selected task and its contact.
